Disney April 2026 – Day 3 – Hollywood Studios

With Mickey at our Character Lunch

Dear Liza Jean and James,

Day three of our Disney trip started out sleeping in a lot later – 7:30 a.m. because Hollywood Studios does not open for early entry until 8:30 a.m. The first thing we did when we entered the park was to rent a double stroller instead of single so that James could also enjoy getting pushed around.  James, although you did a great job of walking the entire day at Animal Kingdom, we could tell you got a little tired.  With our double stroller secured, we headed to the far end of the park and rode Alien Swirling Saucers, which I enjoyed more that I thought I would.  We then snagged a bucket of popcorn, which included very inexpensive refills.

Most mornings JC and LJ would watch TV in the Great Hall as we got organized

While the two of you enjoyed your popcorn in the stroller, we headed to the Frozen Sing Along Show, which was very funny. We then explored the Star Wars and Toy Story parts of the park and then rode Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway. At our Hollywood Character lunch, we saw Goofy, Pluto, Mickey and Minnie.  Although taking photos with the characters and getting their signatures on our Christmas ornaments was cool, the highlight for me at lunch was watching the two of you finish two big bowls of soft serve ice cream!

Thank you Jen Sullivan for sending these keepsakes that we got signed!

After lunch we saw Beauty and Beast, which we enjoyed from our VIP seats! This Disney Story if one of my favorites because of the choreography and songs like “Be Our Guest” – one of my favorite Disney songs.  We then saw the show “Disney Villains”, which is a new show that let’s you vote for the villain that you believe is the most misunderstood.

At the beginning of “BE OUR GUEST”!

Before we left the park, we splurged and paid to have your faces painted.  James, you chose to be a tiger, and Liza Jean chose to be a kitten. Again, our transportation back to our hotel was easy-peasy. For dinner we ordered pick-up from the Sanna Restaurant and had a picnic in our room.  Again, the two of you fell asleep very early with your faces still painted, looking very precious indeed.

One of the things I noticed was how nice everyone was to each other.  You expect the Disney Staff to be nice, but I did not expect all the guests to be so nice.  Liza Jean, several times during our morning bus rides into the parks, someone would offer their seat to me when they saw that I was holding you.  No one jostled us in line and people would volunteer to take pictures of the four of us.  Being with people at Disney gives one hope and faith in humanity.  If Disney is good for anything, it is a dose of positive therapy.  So, with Day Three (Wednesday or Hump Day) behind us, I was starting the think that maybe this trip with the two of you might end up as one of my favorite trips of all time. Could it be?

With much love,

Papa J
