Europe 2013 – Days 7 & 8

Europe 2013
Our View of Florence from hill where church sits that is a jewel of Florence.

June 19 and 20 – We spent two fabulous days in Florence and then travelled through Chianti region to Monteriggioni. We were so busy I did not post any narrative.
June 21 – Sorry for not posting last night. Stayed late in Siena for the All Night Summer Solstice Celebration (“Siena 210613 Solstizio D’Estate”) – see pictures. The city streets were packed with bands, clowns, break dancers, ball room dancers, a children’s fashion show, a bridal fashion show, marching revelers, families and more – and it goes on until sunrise. By the way, many of the stores and shops stay open as well. Evidently, this is a big celebration for many cities in Europe. So…. We made our way from Florence to Monterigioni (a Middle Ages fortress town) through Chianti area. We are actually staying in a hotel in Monteriggioni that used to be the town stables. We ended the day in Siena.
